Learn phrases, not single words

Learning the word "decision" on its own doesn't help much. Learning "make a decision" or "it's a tough decision" does - because that's how people actually use it. When you write down new vocabulary, write down the whole phrase you heard it in. You'll sound more natural, and you'll stop making the small mistakes that come from putting the right words together the wrong way.
